This past month we have been learning about angles. The 3 angles we have been learning about are right angle, acute angle and obtuse angle. A right angle is 90 degress, an obtuse angle is 90-180 degress and an acute angle is 90 degress and lower.  There are different kinds of angles that we are getting to know. I will post more about angles when I know more.

Giving Stockings To The Homeless

On Monday, The grade 6 class went downtown to give stockings to the homeless. We bought warm, fuzzy socks and put one sock inside the other sock. Then we filled the sock with travel size toothpaste, shampoo, mouthwash and even bars of soap. We gave one to every homeless person we saw. Every time a grade 6 student gave a stocking to a homeless person, they cried. Everyone was guessing that they cried because no one ever gave them anything for Christmas or that they didn't have enough money to buy something or someone else to make them feel happy. It was really sad to see people that didn't have a leg or people that didn't have warm clothes. We even saw homeless people looking through garbage bins to find beer bottles or wine bottles to bring into a beer store to get money for it. The things we saw, we can't unsee  but we should feel good about ourself knowing that we made a homeless person feel good.

All About Me!!

Hi, my name is Kaley and I am in grade 6. I have a little sister, mom, dad, baby cousin, grandparents and an aunt and uncle who love me very much. My favourite color is baby blue. I like eating cucumber, cupcakes, tomato, carrots, strawberries and blackberries. I am a competitive dancer at Kali Andrews Dance Co. I like to do Acro, HipHop, Jazz, Contemporary and Ballet. I get to go to many different places and meet a lot of different people. I have met Shawn Desman and Kate from The Next Step. This year I have 3 away competitions. Niagra Falls, Cornwall and Brocville. Last year I wasn't dancing for almost 3 months because I had a hip injury and I have just renjured the same hip. I am not aloud to dance for at least 2 weeks. The great thing is that I have meet so many people that I didn't really like when I first met them but now we are best friends. The friends I have made over the past 4 years are friends worth keeping. When someone has an injury everybody understands each other because we have all been there a couple times. My best friend at my studio is Vicky. Vicky understands everything about me. When I need a friend she is always there for me. Basicly, everyone gets along and that's what you need is for everyone to have trust in each other. And when I get mad at someone or because of what happened I tell myself there is no I in TEAM!!!

Thanks for reading:)
P.S. I will be writing more about me and about my learning so please check my blog everyday and I will try and post when I have time:)

Through the past couple of weeks we have been reading a book called The Stranger. The Stranger is about a man who was hit by a car and lost his memory. The man that took him brought him to his house and called a doctor. The doctor said he had to relax and he would be better in 2 weeks. As 2 weeks went by the stranger wasn't getting better. He was confused about everything. Things like buttons, button hole, shoes and even himself.  He then decided to leave and go back to where he came from. Every fall on their window written in frost said " See you next year". After that we had to write a story on a fictional character and write as if they were the stranger. My partner Marcus and I decided to write about Santa Claus and  how he had lost his memory. We were basicly retelling a story written by an author and put it in our on words.

Since the beginning of the year we have learned about input and output charts, different strategies like skip counting, t-charts, number lines and pictures. We learnt that patterns aren't in numbers and colors they are also in music, color, shape, numbers, size, in people and letters. For example: red, green, red, green is a color pattern and the core is red, green. Aa,Bb,Aa,Bb is a letter pattern and the core is Aa,Bb. 2,4,6,2,4,6 is a number pattern and the core is 2,4,6. I hope that I can learn more and more patterning to share with you.

This week in math I learned how to make a line graph and what Input, Output and Rule.

A Rule is an operation like multiplication, division, subtraction and addition.

Input is a starting of a pattern.

Output is where you determine what your pattern is.

Ex: 1 / 5
      2 /10
     3 / 20
     4 / 25
5 / 30      The input is starting at 1 and adding 4 to get to five. And output is adding 5 each time which determines your pattern and pattern rule.

Today I learnt about a Term, a Sequence and a Pattern Rule.

Term: A term is any number in a pattern.
Ex: 5,10,15,20 are all terms.

Sequence: A sequence is something that happens in a specific order.
Ex: 2,4,6,8 are sequence numbers because they fall in a specific order.

Pattern Rules: A pattern rule is something that repeats itself.
Ex: 567,189,63,21 is dividing and the answer is always 3.
567/189 = 3 189/63 = 3 63/21 = 3

This is what I learnt and will always know!!

Learning About The Disease Ebola

I have recently read up on Ebola. Ebola is in West Africa, the  U.S.A. and even here in Canada. Ebola has may different symptoms such as: Vomiting, Aches and Pains, Headaches, Red Eyes, Diarrhea, Fever, Lack of Appetite, Difficulty Swallowing and Breathing, Rashes and Hiccups.
In 1976, there was 3 case of Ebola, which resulted to 2 deaths. In 2013, the doctors found 1,716 cases. As of August 26 ,2014 they have found 3,069 cases and Ebola has  killed 1,552 people.
Some doctors believe that Ebola is going to go around  the world and kill  many of us. They are speculating that in 2016, most people will have the virus and many of us will die due to it. Currently there is no vaccine, however the Scientist and Doctors are working together to manufacture a vaccine to help with this strain of virus.
When you are diagnosed with the Ebola Virus, Doctors are saying you have 16 days to live, when the virus matures on the 7th and 8th day your organs and body begin to shut down and thus you begin to die a slow and painful death.
So please if you know that the area that you are planning to visit or vacation has been affected do the smart thing and don't go!!

Today we went to Carp Fair!! My grandma came as a parent volunteer. At Carp Fair there were 9 different stations. There was Maple Syrup, Dairy Cows, stuff about Pigs and Sheep and Horses and even plant and soybeans. When we were done looking at all of the stations it was time for lunch, so we all ate lunch. Then we went to go look through the barns to see cows and horse races while we waited for our bus. The bus finally came and we got to go back to school!!!!!

At first it was really cold but by the second game it got warmer out. I played  Center Offense for every game. I find Center Offense is my best position. If find that it's my best position because I'm the kind of person that can not stand still in a game, I need to be moving. This is all about my day at soccer.

Long Day At Dance!!

Today I have been at dance since 9:00am and am on break right now. My break started at 2:30pm and ends at 5:15pm. I then dance from 5:15pm until 5:45pm. At 2:30 my grandpa came to get me so that I wasn't just sitting around at the studio doing nothing for two hours. So after I finished eating my lunch I decided to come on blogger to write about my day at dance. So far I have finished my Open extended line, Jazz extended line & Jazz small group 3. I have also completed my Technique class and Cardio class. When I go back to dance I get to do my contemporary solo!! So excited.

P.S. Make sure you check my blog ever now and then. I will be posting more stuff for school, dance and a lot of other stuff!!

What I Am A Believer And I Have A Voice Means To Me

To me I Have A Voice means I stand up for what I believe is right. Also I am honest, I speak, write and listen the way Jesus would want me to. I think carefully before I react or speak, I respect all people and their languages. And I listen to the word of God because I Have A Voice, I will use it lovingly, and I will live my life like Jesus. I am A Believer to me means that I believe God is an awesome God, I believe and have faith in God. Also I believe that God is always with us, I believe that I can talk to God anywhere and anytime through prayer.I believe in the stories of the Bible, I believe in the stories of Jesus's life, death and resurrection. I believe in the Church community celebrating mass and the seven sacraments. And I believe in forgiveness Because I am a believer and I will live my life like Jesus.

How I Can Make This The Best Year Ever!!

My teacher Mr.Meagher has asked us to write on how we can make this year the Best Year Ever.

We can make this the Best Year Ever by having fun!! Also by helping younger kids out. By helping younger kids out I mean showing them around, helping them learn new things and helping them make some new friends. For the grade 6's it's a bit different. The grade 6's aren't intrested in little kids games anymore, so for us we can make this the Best Year Ever by enjoying our last year together because not all of us are going to be going to the same school for the rest of our lives and if that's the case we may as well just enjoy it. And that includes trying out for sports and joining clubs for school and maybe even hanging out after school!! So for all of my classmates please try and make it the Best Year you can dream of and don't just read this and say why? Read this and make something out of it. Hope you guys really enjoy our last year together!!

This is how I can make this the Best Year Ever!!!!!
